VEIL BLOK
VEIL BLOK is an attempt to change Calgary's architectural landscape through an innovative new design and concept. The City of Calgary is making strides to address its problems of sprawl and low density through a series of policy changes aimed at providing the impetus for change. VEIL BLOK is a product of this optimism. Located within an area known as the Beltline, the project is ideally situated to bridge the historic, denser urban fabric of Calgary's core with the sprawl of the periphery. The project sits on what are conventionally four single family lots, combining the sites to provide for 21 units, an increase of five times the density. This project is in turn seen as a precedent project for future work, aiming to provide models for the continued densification of the urban fabric.
